How to Get an Expedia Receipt (2026): Trips, Hotels and Cars
Get an Expedia receipt from your itinerary page with Print receipt or Get receipt, plus when the hotel, airline or car rental company issues it instead.
To get an Expedia receipt, open the booking's itinerary page from Trips and choose Print receipt or Get receipt. No account? Find the booking with your itinerary number and email. If you paid the hotel or car company directly, or need a receipt for tax purposes, Expedia says to get it from that provider.
Paid Expedia up front? Use its receipt. Paid at the desk? Get the provider's.

The steps come from Expedia's own help centre, the same on expedia.com and expedia.ca.
Step 1: Open the itinerary page
Every receipt starts from the booking's itinerary page. There are two ways in, both on Expedia's Trips page:
- Signed in: go to Trips and open the booking.
- No account: on Trips, use Find your booking with your itinerary number and the email you booked with.
Expedia's terms of service say the booking confirmation goes to the email you gave when you booked. No confirmation within 24 hours? Expedia says to contact its Help Center. That email holds the itinerary number you need.
Step 2: Choose Print receipt or Get receipt
Expedia's help article Get a receipt for your booking says you can get a receipt from the itinerary page itself. Choose Print receipt or Get receipt.
To keep a file, pick Save as PDF in your browser's print dialog (Ctrl+P or Cmd+P).

If you need a receipt for tax purposes, Expedia says to reach out to your travel provider, such as the hotel or airline. That matters in Canada, where a GST/HST claim can need the supplier's registration number (see the tax notes below).
Step 3: Get the provider's receipt when you paid them
Who gives you the receipt depends on when you paid. From the same Expedia help article:
| Booking | When you paid | Your receipt |
|---|---|---|
| Hotel, pay now | At booking, to Expedia | The itinerary page receipt is your proof of purchase |
| Hotel, pay at property | At check-in or check-out | The hotel gives it when you complete your stay |
| Car, pay now | At booking, to Expedia | The itinerary page receipt; the rental company can also give you a copy of the contract |
| Car, pay later | When you return the car | The rental company's receipt, listing all fees and taxes |
| Package | At booking | The itinerary page shows the total paid |

Room extras get their own receipt
Even on a pay-now hotel, charges to your room during the stay (Expedia's examples: wifi, minibar) come on a separate receipt from the hotel at checkout. Ask for it before you leave.

Packages can split on your card
Expedia's help article warns that a package receipt shows the total you paid, while your bank or card statement may show separate charges for each part: flight, hotel and so on.

Step 4: Save it and match it to the charge
A business trip needs three things in your records: the receipt, the dates and the business purpose. A one-line note works: "Trade show, Calgary, Nov 3 to 5."
Got your Expedia receipt?
Send it to BookZero. Upload the PDF or forward it to the BookZero Telegram bot, and it reads the vendor, date and total and matches it to the charge on your bank statement.

When the statement is in, BookZero pairs each receipt with its bank charge, so you can see at a glance which package charge still has no receipt.

Canada (CRA)
Business travel goes on the T2125 under Travel expenses. Meals on the trip go under Meals and entertainment, where the CRA says the most you can claim is 50%.
To claim the GST/HST back, the CRA's input tax credit rules ask more of a receipt as the bill grows. From $100, it needs the supplier's GST/HST registration number, and from $500 also your name, a description and the terms of payment.

For a stay of $100 or more, ask the hotel for its invoice if the Expedia receipt doesn't show that number. The CRA says to keep records and supporting documents for six years (CRA record retention).
United States (IRS)
Self-employed filers claim business travel on Schedule C under Travel. IRS Publication 463 says:
- Lodging always needs documentary evidence. The exception for small expenses covers only non-lodging costs under $75.
- A hotel receipt should show the hotel's name and location, the dates you stayed, and separate amounts for lodging, meals and phone calls.
- Business meals are generally limited to 50%.
An Expedia pay-now receipt may show one total for the stay. Ask the hotel for an itemized folio at checkout so lodging and extras are split. Our Schedule C categories guide lists the lines.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a receipt from Expedia?
Open the booking's itinerary page from Trips on Expedia and choose Print receipt or Get receipt. If you don't have an account, use Find your booking on the Trips page with your itinerary number and the email you booked with.
Can I get an Expedia receipt without an account?
Yes. On the Trips page, use Find your booking with your itinerary number and email address to open the itinerary page, then choose Print receipt or Get receipt.
Why does my Expedia receipt not match my credit card statement?
For package bookings, Expedia says the itinerary receipt shows the total you paid, while your bank or card statement may show separate charges for each part of the package, such as the flight and the hotel.
Who gives me the receipt for a pay at property hotel?
The hotel. With pay at property you pay in full at check-in or check-out, so Expedia says you get the receipt from the hotel when you complete your stay. Charges to your room, such as wifi or the minibar, also come on a separate hotel receipt at checkout.
Can I use an Expedia receipt for taxes?
Expedia says that if you need a receipt for tax purposes, you should reach out to your travel provider, such as the hotel or airline. In Canada, a GST/HST claim on a purchase of $100 or more needs the supplier's GST/HST registration number on the receipt.
