How We Built a 40-Skill AI Marketing System Using Claude Skills
A complete AI marketing system using Claude skills — 40+ marketing Claude skills covering SEO, conversion, growth, and retention. The playbook powering BookZero.
Marketing a SaaS product as a solo founder is a full-time job you cannot hire for at a $0 budget. You build the product, then realize you also need SEO, conversion optimization, email sequences, paid ads, churn prevention, and content strategy — all at once.
We built something different: a system of 40+ marketing Claude skills that handles the work normally requiring an entire team. Each Claude skill is a slash command — you type it, provide context, and get structured output. No prompt engineering, no guesswork.
This post is a high-level overview of the system. The full playbook with all prompts, workflows, and skill files is available in the EricTech Skool community.
The System at a Glance
The marketing Claude skills system has four layers, each building on the one before it.

At the top is a hard gate: a single skill that generates a 12-section positioning file from your codebase. Every other skill reads this file. Without it, all output is generic. With it, everything is tailored to your product, audience, and market position.
Below that, the Top 8 Essentials run in sequence — analytics before optimization, audit before fixes. Then you pick from five Advanced Paths based on your bottleneck. The Reference layer provides an impact matrix, monthly rhythm, and KPI dashboard to keep you on track.
Foundation: Setup and the Top 8 Essentials
The essentials are sequential. Each builds on the previous skill's output.

- Product Marketing Context — generates your positioning bible (12 sections: audience, personas, competitors, objections, brand voice)
- Analytics Tracking — creates a tracking plan with GA4 events, UTM strategy, and funnel measurement
- SEO Audit — full technical and on-page audit with a prioritized fix list
- Landing Page CRO — audits your page across 7 conversion dimensions
- Web Vitals — measures and fixes Core Web Vitals (LCP under 2500ms)
- Signup-to-Activation CRO — reduces friction from signup through first-value moment
- AI SEO / GEO — optimizes for ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews
- Content Strategy — plans topic clusters, editorial calendar, and content pillars
The Hard Gate
The product marketing context file is the single most important step. Skip it and every other skill produces generic output that could apply to any product. Run it first — it takes 10 minutes and transforms everything downstream.
Five Advanced Paths
After completing the essentials, pick your direction based on your biggest bottleneck. You do not need all five — choose the one that solves your most urgent problem.

- Content & SEO (11+ skills) — build the organic traffic machine with keyword research, SEO writing, technical audits, and AI search optimization
- Conversion & Revenue (9 skills) — turn free users into paying customers with behavioral psychology, paywall optimization, and email sequences
- Growth & Scale (6 skills) — layer paid acquisition and viral loops on an optimized funnel
- Retention & Ops (6 skills) — reduce churn with cancel flows, health scores, and competitor monitoring
- Fundraise Ready (recipe) — prepare pitch decks, traction metrics, and competitive landscape slides for YC or investors
Each path has its own pipeline with phased execution. Paths are independent — you can run Growth while building Content without conflicts.
Content and SEO: The Organic Engine
The largest path covers the full content lifecycle across five phases.

Research discovers 100+ keywords with difficulty scores and finds gaps where competitors rank and you do not. Write produces publish-ready articles with meta tags, FAQ sections, and internal links. Optimize handles on-page audits, technical SEO checks, and schema markup. Structure plans site architecture and internal linking. AI restructures content for generative engines — making it quotable by ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews.
The full playbook includes the exact prompts, input/output specs, and success criteria for every skill in this pipeline.

Join the CommunityConversion: Free Users to Paying Customers
The conversion path moves through three phases: understand how users think, optimize the upgrade experience, then capture demand at scale.

Understand applies 56 behavioral models (anchoring, loss aversion, social proof) to your specific conversion challenges. Optimize designs paywall triggers, upgrade copy, lifecycle email flows, and form friction reduction. Capture builds competitor comparison pages, free tools for lead generation, and programmatic SEO pages at scale.
Growth and Scale: Paid, Organic, and Viral
Three parallel channels, each with two Claude skills.

Paid builds campaign structures and generates ad creative at scale — headlines, descriptions, and video scripts across Google, YouTube, and Meta. Organic plans social content calendars and go-to-market launch strategies using the ORB framework (Owned, Rented, Borrowed). Viral designs referral programs with double-sided incentives and sources from 139 proven SaaS growth tactics.
Retention and Ops: Keep Users, Reduce Churn
Three parallel tracks for keeping the users you already have.

Prevent builds cancel flows with save offers, exit surveys, and dunning sequences for failed payments, plus lead scoring to flag upgrade-ready free users. Outreach writes B2B cold email sequences and analyzes backlink profiles for link building opportunities. Monitor tracks competitor keyword rankings, content strategies, and AI visibility to find gaps you can exploit.
Fundraise Ready: The YC Checklist
A recipe path — one unique Claude skill plus four borrowed from other paths, applied to the fundraising context.

Sales Enablement produces pitch decks, one-pagers, and objection docs. Then you pull Rank Tracker for traction metrics, Competitor Analysis for the landscape slide, Marketing Psychology for pitch framing, and RevOps for pipeline metrics.
How It Works in Practice
The system follows a monthly rhythm: Week 1 publishes and optimizes content, Week 2 runs paid and social campaigns, Week 3 analyzes performance and adjusts, Week 4 focuses on conversion and retention.
Every Claude skill is a slash command. You type /seo-content-writer, describe your target keyword and audience, and get a complete article with meta tags, headers, FAQ, and internal links. The whole flow takes 2-3 hours instead of 2-3 days of manual work.
No Prompt Engineering Required
Every Claude skill handles prompt construction, output formatting, and quality checks internally. You provide context about your product and goals — the skill does the rest. This is the difference between "using AI for marketing" and having a complete marketing Claude skills system.
We use this exact system to market BookZero — an AI-powered bookkeeping tool for freelancers and small businesses. The system is product-agnostic, but the specificity comes from that first positioning file each skill reads.

Do I need to know how to code to use the AI marketing system?
No. The Claude skills are slash commands. You type the command, describe your context, and get structured output. The skills handle prompt engineering, formatting, and quality checks internally.
Does this work for products other than bookkeeping software?
Yes. The system is product-agnostic. The product marketing context skill generates a tailored positioning file from your codebase. Every other Claude skill reads that file. We built it for BookZero, but the architecture works for any SaaS product.
How long does it take to run through the full system?
The Top 8 Essentials take roughly 2-3 weeks at a few hours per day. Advanced Paths depend on which you choose and how deep you go. Most founders see measurable impact after completing the first 4 essentials.
What AI model do the Claude skills use?
The skills are designed for Claude Code, Anthropic's CLI tool. They work with Claude Opus and Sonnet models. The slash command integration is Claude-specific, but the marketing frameworks can be adapted to other AI tools.
